3M™ Scotchshield™ Ultra S800 Window Film
Scotchshield Ultra S800 isn't a single sheet of polyester like a standard safety film. It's a multilayer construction — 42 alternating micro-layers bonded together using 3M's proprietary nanotechnology. That structure lets the film flex, stretch and absorb energy instead of tearing when the glass takes a hit.
The result: independently tested at up to 40 times more tear-resistant than a conventional safety film of the same 8-mil thickness. When someone tries to force entry through the glass, the film helps retain the broken pane and makes a rapid breach more difficult, providing additional time for alarms, occupants and responders.
It's the film we specify for luxury homes, high-value retail, government buildings and any Melbourne site where a standard S70 or S80 upgrade doesn't go far enough. An appropriate attachment system can improve retention by connecting the filmed glass to the surrounding frame. Where blast mitigation is required for an appropriate commercial or non-educational government application, the complete tested glazing and attachment system must be specified for that application.
