A little preparation helps installers work efficiently and achieve the best possible finish.
Preparation checklist
- Clear furniture, plants and ornaments away from the windows
- Allow clear working space where practical
- Tell us about curtains or blinds that are difficult to remove
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Tell us about painting, sanding or other dusty work
- Clean windows and surrounding frames.
- Arrange site access, parking and any building management requirements
1. Make your windows accessible
Move furniture, plants, ornaments and other objects away from the windows. Where practical, provide approximately one metre of clear working space. Let us know if large furniture is difficult to move.
2. Consider curtains and blinds
Curtains and blinds can restrict access to the glass. We will advise if they need to be removed or adjusted. Please tell us if any coverings are difficult to remove.
3. Keep pets and children away
Installation involves water based mounting solutions, tools and glass. Please keep children and pets away from the active work area.
4. Tell us about other trades
Dusty work such as painting, sanding, plastering or construction can affect the finish of the film. Please avoid scheduling dusty work at the same time as the installation and let us know in advance.
5. Clean your windows before installation
Please clean your windows before our installers arrive, including removing any obvious dirt, dust and cobwebs from the glass, frames and surrounding areas. Our installation team will also thoroughly clean and prepare the glass immediately before applying the film. However, having the windows reasonably clean beforehand helps reduce dust and contamination in the working area and allows the installation to proceed more efficiently.
Please also let us know in advance if there is existing window film, adhesive residue, stickers, deteriorating seals or damaged glass, as these may require additional preparation.
6. Ensure access is available
Please arrange site access, parking and any building management arrangements, and let us know about any access restrictions.
What happens on installation day?
Our installers prepare the work area, clean the glass, apply the film and finish each pane. Timing varies with the area, the film and the site. See how long window tinting installation takes for typical timings.
Temporary haze or small water pockets may appear while the film cures. Our guide to what to expect after window film installation explains what is normal.
